We have a couple of posts left to publish and in order to prevent photograph overload, we’ve decided to combine several distinctive events into one posting.
An Italian Restaurant Like No Other
While traversing over Beartooth Parkway, we stopped to view a large herd of Mountain Goats. While watching and photographing, we met a couple there who lives in Red Lodge. The conversation in inevitably turned to food! They told us of a new Italian restaurant in town called Piccola Cucina Ox Pasture. It seems they have incredible cuisine. They are a small family run chain, with 4 in the Soho district in New York City, one in Italy and one in Red Lodge. We first order calamari as an appetizer. It was BY FAR the best calamari we have ever eaten.

For the entrees, I had a chef salad and Meriam had lamb. She said it was some of the best lamb she’s eaten.
Sioux Charlie Trail
On our previous visit to Red Lodge we drove about an hour out of Red Lodge to a hiking trail that was recommended. It is a great trail. Relatively easy to hike with lots of interesting geology along the accompanying river.
d

The trail after the flood. We hiked up a little, but soon came to an area the flood had completely eroded…end of hike!

GaryYour pictures make me wanna go to Montana
HaroldThanks, Gary. Needless to say, Montana (and/or Wyoming) are our favorite states.
mao Can you imagine the force of water during a flood that would move big boulders down the mountain! Love the flowers growing through the rocks.
HaroldMAO, I guess I could not have prior to the Texas floods, but (unfortunately) I can visualize it all too well!
Sharon MSo beautiful there!
HaroldThanks, Sharon!
Swann and LutherAll the food y’all ate sure sounds delicious!! We love lamb! Beautiful scenery… love the stream!
HaroldSwann, the food was good (but not as good as MB’s). I thought with Luther being an “ole time” bulldogger, you would be dedicated beef eaters.
