One of the reasons we chose to spend 5 days in Red Lodge, MT revolved around their 4th July events. In additions to several rodeo sessions, they have wonderful parades spread over 3 days. In this posting we will highlight their professional bull riding event held on Wednesday, 1 July. We will cover the other events in subsequent postings.
Just coming out of the shoot! The announcer said all the contestants today were world class bull riders and the bulls were the most aggressive available. PRCA is the oldest and largest professional rodeo-sanctioning body in the world. Check out all the White Hats…all volunteers, supporting the riders and bulls.These bulls were incredibly aggressive.Once a rider is down, the “clowns” circle around diverting the bull from the downed rider. If you check closely, you can see the rider underneath the rear hooves of the bull–MB says the clowns were amazing!The bulls were really tough…more failed to remain on their bull for their allotted time than complete their ride.Airborne!!The WINNER. This young man was from Texas. He pocketed $5500 for the night, out of a total purse of $18,000.Meriam chose great seats for us. High and no poles in the way!

Yes, I don’t know how they survive getting thrown off under the bull, stepped on etc. They do wear a vest that was created just for bull riders for protection. Always love following yalls post!
