As perhaps you might recall, our trip East in the fall of last year was terminated due to transmission issues. Over the winter, we had a replacement installed. Feeling the need to test the new transmission in a demanding environment, we took a short two-day, one-night “shake-down” trip to the mountains north of Broken Bow, OK. Other than a few minor issues, the four of us (me, Meriam, the truck, and the camper) faired the overnight excursion well.

This spring we will be heading to the Southwest (the lower part of New Mexico, the upper part of Arizona, and the lower part of Utah). We expect to be gone for about 6 weeks. The areas we will visit are great for camping “off the grid” (known as boondocking). As such, we have made only four nights of reservations at campgrounds for the whole trip.
