Last Day in Amish Country

We really loved this part of Ohio. While we liked the country side we especially like the people. We tried hard to relate to the people themselves. While the area is quite commercial (as we have stated previously), everyone we came in contact with was very friendly and personable.

We didn’t see any “Hex” symbols on barns in Amish country, but did come across this interesting symbol.

Lots and lots of corn fields, but it was not corn for eating. We suspect these corn fields were planted for silage since there were so many dairy cattle in the area.

We encountered a number of interesting “Amish” roadway signs. Here are a couple.

Since the Amish do not use electricity, they of course do not have clothes dryers. Here the woman of the house is drying her family’s clothes among the grape vines.

This (and the next two photographs) are YAGSP (Yet Another Great Scenery Photograph)!

Early morning in Amish Country

I love the fence line leading to the farmhouse in the distance

Kool old barn near a grist mill.

Knock, knock. Anyone home!

Came across this Grist Mill being restored by the State of Ohio. Three workmen have been working on it since 2006 and figure it will be at least another 3 years before they are finished!
