Ok, folks, the first part of our posting on the Transcontinental Railroad is a history lesson. In this first posting, we are going to do something we have never done before in all the years of our travel blog: below you are directed to a website of the History Channel which provides you with a very detailed, factual description (better than we could do) of the history of the building of The Transcontinental Railroad. It is a short, but well written account of one of the greatest accomplishments in America’s history. We promise, part 2 will be photographs from our visit to the Golden Spike National Historical Park.

Alishia Fergusonnot plagiarism as long as you give credit. And you know, I know. 😉
HaroldAlishia, yeh, I know…but it still seems a little fake not personally generating the text.
Charles HaggardInteresting that I started watching Youtube videos on this about a month ago particularly through Wyoming…look forward to pictures….Bubba

Fran RoundsOne of my favorite books was History of TransConR -good to see result!
HaroldGreat Fran. The next posting will list a couple of books we have read on the subject.
Peter WalshYes, this is a most interesting place to visit. When we visited we were allowed in the shed to view the loco…is that still allowed? If you know.
HaroldHi PJ! Yes, it’s a great place to visit. Unfortunately, we don’t know to ask visiting the shed. Since the site was not over run with people, we might have been able to visit.
