The Rose Parade – 2015
Hi All,
It has been a few months since we have posted anything. As some of you may know, Meriam and I traveled to Pasadena, CA to attend the 2015 Rose Parade. It was quite an experience. We spent two days prior to the parade viewing the construction of some of the floats. In addition, we viewed a presentation by the various bands that participated in the parade. Finally, after the parade, we went to a park where all the floats were lined up for “close and personal” viewing. All in all, it was most enjoyable.
The weather in “sunny” Pasadena was a little problematic. One day it rained quite heavily (fortunately it was not the day of the parade). The day of the parade we were in the parade stands by 5:30a. It was 30 degrees! Seems this was the coldest parade day since 1932. We wore adequate clothing so it did not present a problem. Fortunately, the rest of day warmed up nicely.
Meriam had previously booked us into a hotel that was right on one of the public bus lines. Using the public buses and their metro train system, we were able to get to all the events without too much walking. Driving a car during this time (especially during the day of the parade) would have been a nightmare. Well over 1 million people attend the parade, so you can imagine the parking problem.
All of the events surrounding the parade was a photographer’s dream! Consequently, I took over 2,000 photographs. Fortunately for you, we have reduced this number to a (somewhat) manageable 114 for this posting. We realize this is an inordinate number to view so we will not feel slighted if you decide to forego viewing all of them.
These photographs as separated into five different pages for (hopefully) easier viewing. The pages are “Band“, “Gamble House“, “Float Construction“, “Parade Day” and “Post Parade Viewing“. Note that each of the previous words in quotes are “clickable”. If you click on one of the words, it will open a new browser window to the appropriate page.
We hope you enjoy the photographs.
Harold and Meriam
