Blue Ridge Parkway – Day 2
The posting for today includes three distinctive sets of photographs. The first is a set of three pictures we took of the sunrise this morning. We were up early so we could see what a sunrise on the parkway would look like. Well, we were absolutely flabbergasted! Our biggest difficulty with the sunrise photographs was not including dozens of them! These three are a somewhat representative example of the several dozen we took.
The second set of photographs were taken on a hike we took called the Rough Ridge Trail. After photographing the sunrise, we took this hike. It was not a particularly difficult hike but it did give us access to some early morning viewing of the valley below.
The last set of photographs were taken at a music venue we attend on Saturday evening. The music was held at the Blue Ridge Music Center located on the Parkway. The center is an outstanding ampitheater built by the Department of Interior. One can only dream of Jefferson getting a similar theater as a result of the Corp project. A number of concerts are held here during the summer. This concert was the last of the season and featured two different groups singing and playing traditional Bluegrass tunes. The fiddler of the second group was particularly good. One fun aspect of the concert was to watch individuals from the audience dancing to their favorite songs.
