Hi Folks,
Guess you thought we had dropped of the end of the earth! Sorry for taking so long to make our first post, but it has been a very busy couple of weeks.
We arrived in Seattle on Monday, 5 June without a hitch and went directly to the repair shop where the TC (truck camper) was being rebuilt. When we arrived, we found out the TC was not ready! In fact, it appeared there was a LOT of more work to be done. In reality, it only took a couple of days to complete (and this was with Meriam and I working like dogs doing cleaning). Moreover, you will recall we brought the TC up here 5 months ago! We were not pleased to say the least!
But the most important thing was the quality of work done on the TC. It was outstanding, much better than originally done by the manufacturer! It cost us more than expected, but the end result is a camper which should last us the rest of our camping career (which we hope is a long, long time.)
Below are just a few of the hundreds of photographs our newly found friend Peter Walsh took over the course of the TC rebuild. Peter has a camper exactly like ours and he had his rebuilt by the same people. Fortunately Peter lives only a few miles from the shop so he would come down about once a week and take photographs of the progress. Peter and his wife Marcie welcomed us with open arms when we arrived. True friends!
From the photographs you can get a glimpse of why we had to have it rebuilt.

P.S. Hopefully we will not be so delinquent on future posts. The next couple of posts will deal with our trip to Vancouver Island with our friends from Hallsville, Diane and John Jackson. They spent 10 days with us exploring this beautiful island. Many of you will recognize Diane as the outstanding physical therapist associated with Good Shepherd in Marshall. We had a great time there with them.
P.P.S. A couple of photographs following the camper pics might be of interest. The first is a view of Mt. Rainier as we began the landing approach, the second illustrates the hazards of packing the truck as we are trying to organize things, and the third shows what happens when a Texan encounters an Australian Cow Dog from California while in Washington!
Just a little rot here!
And even more here…and this is not the worst of it!
However, after 200,000 mile on the road, what can one expect!
Done and ready for roll-out!
Quite pretty, huh!
Latching up and ready to go…

When Meriam got “trapped” by our dirty laundry from the trip out here in January, I thought about leaving her there to contemplate her “bad ways” 🙂
We drove to a Lance RV dealer to see if they had a part we needed. As I got out of the truck, I passed a car not knowing it contained an Australian Cow Dog. The window was rolled down and he proceeded to reach out from the window and bite me! First checked with the owner to make sure he was up-to-date on his rabies shot, then went to the local outpatient care center where they gave me a tetanus shot and bandaged it up. No stitches but it hurt some.
David RayburnDamn, Harold….keep you arm inside the car. Camper is looking great. Hope you have a good trip once you get going.
